Who says “13” is an unlucky number? Five Vintners just enjoyed a spectacular harvest of beautiful and deliciously ripe fruit in our 13th year of making wine from grapes! We did not experience the early ripening that has been the hallmark of the 2013 vintage, but were able to enjoy the fine weather, with very little rain, and let the fruit ripen to perfection in the vineyard. The Admiral’s Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc was harvested as predicted on the first day of school for our children and on the Tuesday following Labor Day Weekend! That is planning! The reds all enjoyed the heat of September, with only a few sprinkles of rain along the way. The Zinfandel from Dry Creek was the first red in this season and was enormously plump and juicy, almost like a ripe tomato. Our dog Razz was too big a fan for my liking! Our two amazing Napa Cabernet vineyards just made it into the winery last week, and now all three lots are fermenting beautifully. I am excited to announce the imminent release of our 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon to our Wine Club Members! The critics haven’t said too much about the 2010 vintage, but who needs them to know a great wine when we taste one? The aromas just explode out of the glass with our 2010 vintage, showcasing an amazing range of aromas from mocha and cassis to juicy strawberry. A lively and rich mid-palate and lingering finish really deliver what you smell in the glass. This wine is eminently drinkable now, but will certainly age nicely for years to come! We bottled only 738 cases of this wine.
